What’s New and What to Look for: Your 2025 Bronco Sport Buyer’s Guide
April 14 2025 - Ben Derleth
A blue 2025 Ford Bronco Sport for sale driving up a dirt hill.

It’s not easy being a little sibling. There’s always so much pressure to be exactly like your big siblings that it’s hard to feel appreciated for what you really are. And it’s even harder when your big sibling happens to be the Ford Bronco, one of the most adept and well-equipped off-roading vehicles on the road today. The Ford Bronco Sport is often unfairly compared to the full-sized Bronco when it is a totally different vehicle. Sort of.

If you’re looking for a Ford Bronco Sport for sale, you likely have a lot of questions. Many of these questions probably involve comparisons to the 2025 Ford Bronco—is the 2025 Bronco Sport as capable? Does it have as many off-roading bells and whistles? What do the different trims mean? And most of all—which Bronco Sport is right for your driving needs? Consider this overview of the 2025 Ford Bronco Sport a starting place to help you appreciate this "little sibling" in a new light—and to give you an idea of which version best suits your lifestyle.

Introducing the 2025 Ford Bronco Sport

There are a few ways in which the Bronco Sport acknowledges its role as "the little Bronco." The first is size—the Bronco Sport truly is smaller than the Bronco, but not by a huge amount. Measuring 173.1 inches in total length, the 2025 Bronco Sport is diminutive compared to the 2025 Bronco, which ranges in length between 173.7 inches for two-door models and 189.4 inches for four-door models.

Therefore, certain details like towing and cargo capacity are sized to scale. The Bronco Sport Badlands trim offers the greatest towing capacity at 2,700 lbs, and most trims offer a spacious 65.2 cu.ft. of cargo room with the rear seats folded.

The 2025 Ford Bronco Sport is offered in five trims: Big Bend, Heritage, Free Wheeling, Outer Banks, and Badlands. The first four options in this lineup are equipped with a very handy 1.5L turbocharged engine that provides a zesty 180 hp and 200 lb-ft of torque. The Badlands trim, on the other hand, offers an exhilarating 250 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque thanks to its turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder engine.

The Bronco Sport is also an off-road beast, fully prepared to leave the pavement at any time. Every trim is equipped with standard 4x4 and a range of GOAT (Goes Over Any type of Terrain) Modes. The list of modes varies between trims, though all 2025 models include Off-Road Mode. The 2025 Bronco Sport lineup also includes some technology borrowed from the larger Bronco’s suite of features, including Trail One-Pedal Drive for rock crawling and Trail Control for low-speed cruise control while clambering over strange terrain.

What’s New for the 2025 Ford Bronco Sport?

What is it about the 2025 Bronco Sport that sets it apart from previous model years? There have been several updates across the lineup that provide drivers with greater convenience and performance than ever before.

Perhaps the most noticeable update is the addition of a 13.2-inch touchscreen that has been added to all trims. This touchscreen connects to the Ford SYNC 4 infotainment system, which includes standard wireless AppleCarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.

In addition to this fully-rounded infotainment suite, all 2025 Bronco Sport models include a standard 12.3-inch digital instrument display. Located behind the center display is the handy Bring Your Own Device tray from the Bronco, which offers a convenient place to put electronics with extra USB-C ports for charging.

Another addition to the Bronco Sport lineup is the availability of the advanced off-roading Sasquatch Package. Now offered on the Outer Banks and Badlands trims, the Sasquatch Package is known for making distant destinations even more accessible with Bilstein shocks, 29-inch Goodyear Territory all-terrain tires, and four recovery points. This package also offers additional protection in the form of a front brush guard, steel skid plates, and modular bumpers with steel bash plates.

Drivers who select a model with the Sasquatch Package get an extra treat: an additional Rally Mode. This mode has been specifically designed for achieving higher speeds on sandy terrain with greater steering feedback and transmission tuning that puts power right where you need it.

Which Bronco Sport Is Right for You?

Each of the five 2025 Bronco Sport trims is highly capable and tons of fun to drive, but realistically, most of us can only drive one car at a time. So, how do you decide which Bronco Sport is perfect for your on-road and off-road needs?

The base 2025 Bronco Sport Big Bend has plenty to offer, including easy-to-clean, adventure-appropriate cloth upholstery, the full Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist+ suite of driver assistance technology with blind-spot assistance and lane-centering technology. The Heritage trim pays homage to the Broncos of yesteryear, adding an Oxford White roof and Navy Pier plaid interior to the mix. The Bronco Sport Free Wheeling also stands out with its retro red, orange, and yellow sunset-themed interior and exterior.

Choosing the Bronco Sport Outer Banks adds quite a few features to the mix. Not only does the Outer Banks include a distinctive Shadow Black roof, but it also offers many additional creature comforts in the cabin, including dual-zone electronic automatic temperature control, heated and power-adjustable front seats, a heated steering wheel, and premium easy-care upholstery. This is an off-road vehicle, after all. Mud and grit are expected.

At the top of the lineup is the Bronco Sport Badlands. Not only is this trim more well-equipped for whatever the trail may bring with two additional GOAT modes, steel underbody protection, and an advanced 4x4 system with a twin-clutch rear drive unit, but it also packs plenty of brilliant features inside its cozy interior.

There are, of course, the niceties that any driver can appreciate, like heated power-adjustable front seats, a Remote Start System, and leather-trimmed seats. But the Bronco Sport Badlands takes its adventure duties seriously, with features like rubberized flooring that can be easily washed and rubberized second-row seat backs that don’t mind getting filthy when you fold them down to put your wet, muddy gear in the cargo area.

Even the storage options are worthy of a journey, with zipper pockets and MOLLE straps on the driver and front passenger seatbacks to help stash gear and under-seat storage on the rear passenger side to keep things tucked away from view while you’re out exploring.

Choosing the 2025 Ford Bronco Sport

The 2025 Ford Bronco Sport is an excellent choice for any driver who loves the benefits of 4x4, appreciates a smaller SUV, and is eager to find a vehicle that loves a jaunt in the wilderness as much as they do. While you don’t have to be a hardcore Baja enthusiast to enjoy what the 2025 Bronco Sport has to offer, it is certainly possible to get all of your off-road kicks in this small but mighty vehicle. It’s always difficult being compared to your sibling, especially when your sibling is as cool as the Ford Bronco. But in the case of the Bronco Sport, it’s easy to see that this little guy is just as impressive and lifestyle-friendly.
