2024 Ford Super Duty F-450
The Ford F-Series includes some of the most powerful pickup trucks on the market, and the most powerful of them all is the 2024 Ford Super Duty F-450. If you need a truck that can tow or haul just about anything, this is the model for you. Unlike the lighter members of the Super Duty family, the F-450 comes standard with the Power Stroke turbo-diesel engine and the more capable dual-rear-wheel configuration. This combination gives the truck up to 1,200 lb-ft of torque and a best-in-class max tow rating of an incredible 40,000 lbs. When it comes to fifth wheel or gooseneck trailering, there is simply no competition to this mighty machine.
Along with the rest of the Super Duty models, the F-450 was recently redesigned and now includes even more features designed to enhance your workday. On top of improvements to the powertrain options, the update brought plenty of helpful new technology. The 2024 F-450 offers a massive 12-inch infotainment touchscreen so that you can easily access all the features of Ford’s latest SYNC 4 software. This includes Trailer Navigation and Turn Signal Camera View with Trailer Coverage. Ford knows that Super Duty buyers use their trucks for hard work and has outfitted the F-450 with everything you need to make towing and hauling easy. If you’re looking for the best, we can’t wait to show you every reason to choose the 2024 Ford Super Duty F-450.

Power
Power Stroke Turbo-Diesel V8
The heart of the 2024 Ford Super Duty F-450 is its potent Power Stroke turbo-diesel engine. This 6.7L V8 was recently updated to provide even more power and is sure to impress you with its ability to tow and haul. Unlike the other members of the Super Duty family, which come standard with a less powerful gasoline engine, the F-450 cuts right to the chase and gives you the Power Stroke at no additional cost. However, you do have two different versions of the Power Stroke to choose from, depending on how much power you require.
The base 6.7L Power Stroke V8 that comes standard in the 2024 F-450 has gone unchanged since the 2018 model year. However, that’s not to say this dependable option is dated. With 475 hp and an impressive 1,050 lb-ft of torque, this engine option is already more capable than the 6.6L Duramax turbo-diesel that powers the 2024 Chevy Silverado 3500 HD and 2024 GMC Sierra 3500 HD. With its base engine, the 2024 Ford F-450 is capable of towing up to 38,600 lbs or hauling up to 6,297 lbs. But what if you want even more?
For drivers who settle for nothing but the best, the latest generation of the Ford Super Duty now offers a High-Output version of the 6.7L Power Stroke V8. This option is available on all trims of the 2024 F-450, so you don’t have to worry about upgrading to a more expensive version of the truck to unlock it. If you choose the High-Output Power Stroke, you will be rewarded with a best-in-class 500 hp and 1,200 lb-ft of torque. That’s 80 hp and 125 lb-ft more than the High-Output 6.7L Cummins turbo-diesel in the 2024 Ram 3500. With its top engine, the 2024 F-450 can tow an astounding 40,000 lbs and has a maximum payload rating of 6,457 lbs.
A Configuration for Every Need
Unlike lighter Super Duty models, the F-450 comes standard with a dual-rear-wheel configuration. Having four wheels on the rear axle helps to better support heavy payloads and the tongue weight of large trailers. If you plan to add substantial weight to the front of the truck, such as a winch or steel bumper, there is an available Heavy-Service Front Suspension Package to better manage the load. However, if you are looking to add a snow plow, you will want Ford’s Snow Plow Prep Package instead. This includes specially selected front springs, an upgraded 410 amp dual alternator, and a supplemental cab heater to keep you warm in cold weather.
Four-wheel drive is a necessity for many Vermont and New Hampshire drivers, and it is available on all versions of the 2024 F-450. But if you are looking to handle dirt tracks as well as slippery roads, then make sure to add the FX4 Off-Road Package. This addition includes an electronic limited-slip rear axle, skid plates, hill descent control, and off-road tuned shock absorbers. While lighter Super Duty models with the FX4 Package have all-terrain tires, the F-450 FX4 trucks have special traction tires that balance the need for high towing and payload ratings with improved traction off-road.
Trailering
Working Smarter
The 2024 Ford Super Duty F-450 has been designed to make your workday easier by offering a wide selection of helpful trailering features. Whether you are taking advantage of the truck’s best-in-class tow rating on the highway or maneuvering with a trailer in tight spaces, these features take some of the stress and hassle out of putting your heavy-duty truck to work.
Onboard Scales with Smart Hitch
While the F-450 has phenomenal towing and payload ratings, it’s still possible to overload this truck. That is why Ford has included Onboard Scales. This feature measures how the suspension reacts as the truck is loaded and uses the taillights to tell you how close you are to the maximum payload rating. The accompanying Smart Hitch feature uses the same technology to measure the tongue weight of a trailer, making sure your truck is safely within its limits.
Pro Trailer Hitch Assist
Hooking up a trailer can be a hassle for even the most experienced drivers, especially if you don’t have anyone to spot for you. Pro Trailer Hitch Assist solves this problem by using camera vision and machine learning to hook up your trailer for you. Simply get your truck within 20 feet of your trailer and press a button on the dashboard. The F-450 will take care of the rest, including steering and braking.
Pro Trailer Backup Assist
The self-driving features of the F-450 don’t stop at hooking up a trailer. They also help when backing up with a trailer. Figuring out which way to turn the steering wheel to get a trailer to go where you want can be tricky at times, but Pro Trailer Backup Assist will handle that for you. Simply turn a knob on the dashboard, and the system will figure out the steering inputs needed to put the trailer where you want it to go.
Turn Signal Camera View with Trailer Coverage
Changing lanes with a trailer in tow can get tricky, and Ford has gone a long way to remove the anxiety by adding Trailer Coverage to its radar-based Blind Spot Information System. However, it has also added a Turn Signal Camera View with Trailer Coverage. This system displays a rear-facing side camera view on the central infotainment screen when you activate your turn signal, giving you a good view of exactly what is in the lane beside you.
Technology
Updated SYNC 4 Interface
Heavy-duty trucks like the 2024 Ford Super Duty F-450 haven’t always been known for having the latest tech features. However, Ford is determined to change that and has given the Super Duty family all of its most advanced technologies to keep you informed and entertained throughout the day. At the heart of these features is the latest SYNC 4 infotainment system displayed on a standard eight-inch central touchscreen. The F-450 Lariat takes things to the next level with a standard 12-inch touchscreen and built-in Connected Navigation to provide even easier access to the apps and information you need.
The SYNC 4 system is Ford’s first infotainment option that offers Power-Up over-the-air software updates. This means your F-450 will always have the latest features no matter how long you keep it. It also integrates a 5G Wi-Fi hotspot and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto so you can stay connected more easily no matter where your travels take you. One of the best features is a built-in Digital Owners Manual with how-to videos to quickly find the information you need to get the most out of your truck.
More Helpful Technology
On top of the large central infotainment touchscreen, the 2024 F-450 offers a variety of other displays. A 12-inch Digital Instrument Cluster is available on the XLT trim and standard on the Lariat. Mounted behind the steering wheel, this option replaces your traditional gauges with a customizable display that will show the information you prefer in high resolution. A head-up display is also available, starting with the F-450 Lariat. This projects essential information onto the windshield so you don’t have to take your eyes off the road, and, like the Digital Instrument Cluster, it is customizable to display the information you want to see.
Once you arrive at your destination, Ford has made it easier to get work done with the available Pro Power Onboard system. This is effectively a built-in generator that can provide two kW of exportable electrical power. Power is available from 120V outlets in the cab and bed. Up to 400 watts of power is available through the cab outlets in Convenience Mode with the engine off, while putting the truck into Generator Mode unlocks the full two kW of power through the bed outlets. The total power draw can be monitored through the central touchscreen.
